"Shannon and Danielle"

"Shannon and Danielle", woodblock print
18 cherry plywood blocks
dry pigment and neri-zumi in paste of rice starch on Iwano Ichibei hosho
approximately 16" x 11"
24 sheets completed April 25, 2004

In this print I not only appreciate the quiet moment portrayed, but wished especially to challenge myself with pinstripe pattern in Danielle's robe. I was ecstatic when the tiny sections of stripes in each block were accurately reassembled during printing into a believable form. Whoopee! But the most beautiful areas of the print may be Shannon's chest, the variations in the hair, and their little feets! :-)
